The UCSI University, Faculty of Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Department, has arranged a site visit to NMIM (National Metrology Institute of Malaysia) on the 20th of March 2018. NMIM plays an important role in disseminating the traceability of measurement to the whole country based on the International System of Units. Just like other world standard laboratories, NMIM has great responsibility in ensuring the national metrology infrastructures meet and comply with the global measurement standards. The importance of the role and functions of NMIM has increased significantly after Malaysia signed the WTO-TBT Agreement, which emphasizes on the importance of harmonized national infrastructure measurement system either domestically or internationally. The objective of this industry site visit is to expose engineering students to the facilities of equipment calibration and measurement standards. Students have also visited electrical, mechanical, flow, chemistry laboratories at NMIM.

This site visit was arranged by Asst. Prof. Dr. John Tan Teng Hwang, Head of Department for Electrical & Electronic Engineering (representing IEEE IMS Malaysia Section).
